Srinagar, Jul 24 : A group of 25 women bikers embarked on the final leg of the “Naari Sashaktikaran” rally from Srinagar to Drass to mark the 24th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The diverse group of riders consists of 15 serving officers, eight spouses of serving officers, and two veer naaris, who are paying homage to the Kargil War heroes on July 26.
Starting their journey from the National War Memorial in Delhi on July 18, the women riders covered a distance of 1,000 kilometers in seven days, passing through Ambala, Jalandhar, Udhampur, and Srinagar. Along the way, they conveyed the message of women’s empowerment to schools and NCC cadets while paying respects at various war memorials.
Deepali, one of the riders, highlighted that the rally was organized to celebrate the 24th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas and to send a powerful message that women have arrived and are present in all branches of the Armed Forces – Army, Air Force, and Navy.
Their journey culminated in Drass, Kargil, where they will participate in the Vijay Diwas celebrations on July 26, honoring the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War.
