Srinagar, April 27: Jammu and Kashmir has been experiencing intermittent rainfall since yesterday, with temperatures remaining below normal, according to officials. The meteorological department has predicted that the weather will continue to be unstable in J&K until May 4th.
According to a department official quoted by GNS, Srinagar received 39.7mm of rain, Qazigund 20.8mm, Pahalgam 19.3mm, Kupwara 21.0mm, Kokernag 31.6mm, Gulmarg 43.6mm, Jammu 3.8mm, Banihal 21.8mm, Batote 32.6mm, Katra 16.2mm, Bhaderwah 43.2mm, and Kathua 3.8mm in the last 24 hours till 8:30 a.m. this morning.
The temperature in Srinagar, Qazigund, Pahalgam, and Kokernag was below normal, while the temperature in Gulmarg was 4.7°C below normal. In Kupwara, the temperature was 4.4°C below normal, and in Jammu, it was 2.8°C below normal.
The MeT department has predicted intermittent rain, thunderstorm, and snowfall (over higher reaches) until April 28th, with the possibility of scattered rain and thunderstorms from April 29th to May 3rd. The weather is expected to remain erratic until May 4th in J&K. The department has advised farmers to postpone orchard spraying until May 4th.
