Jammu , Apr 29 : The killing of five soldiers by Pakistani terrorists on April 20, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh revealed on Friday that the terrorists responsible were provided with weapons, grenades, and cash via drone drop. An over ground worker (OGW) named Nisar Ahmad and his family members collected the supplies. The Army and security forces have since intensified their search operations to track the terrorists on the run in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
Singh visited the site of the attack in Darhal area of Rajouri with ADGP Mukesh Singh to review the search operations, stating that the attack could not have been carried out without local support. Investigations suggest that a group of 9-12 Pakistani terrorists infiltrated the Rajouri-Poonch area recently and may have split into two groups. The terrorists carried out a recce of the area despite harsh weather conditions before attacking the Army vehicle, using steel core bullets and IEDs to inflict maximum damage.
Singh revealed that the same bullets used in the Poonch attack were also used in the Dhangri attack on January 1, where seven civilians were killed. The Army vehicle was targeted near a forest area, and investigations suggest that the terrorists might have used natural hideouts.
Nisar Ahmed, who had been on the police’s suspect list for a while, was found to be an active OGW of terrorist outfits since 1990 and had provided logistic and other support to the terrorists involved in the Poonch attack. His family was also involved in providing support to terrorists. Singh said that 200 people have been questioned so far, and 12 suspects have been detained. With the arrest of Nisar, vital leads have been received, and the police are identifying the spot where the drone dropped the weapons and cash.
