New Delhi, May 2 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to distribute regularisation appointment letters to 4,500 New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) workers on Wednesday. These employees, who have worked for 20-25 years in the department, will be granted permanent status. The event will take place at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday evening.
Earlier this year, in February, Amit Shah had written to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal about the regularisation of 4,500 Regular Muster Roll (RMR) employees of NDMC. In 2019, the civic body approved the regularisation of these RMR employees under Kejriwal’s leadership. Kejriwal had also written to Shah to seek regularisation for these employees.
The RMR employees of NDMC have been demanding regularisation for their services for several years. The shortage of employees in NDMC can also be addressed by the regularisation of these workers. The regularisation of these employees is expected to benefit many people from poor families who have spent a significant portion of their lives working in NDMC.
