Jammu, May 4 : Ankit Love, the son of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) founder Bhim Singh, has been removed from the blacklist and granted an emergency visa to attend his mother’s funeral after apologizing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his participation in an anti-government protest in London last year. Love, who is based in London, received a three-month emergency visa on Thursday and thanked India for taking him off the blacklist. Love had previously been blacklisted by the High Commission for his involvement in the February 2022 protest, which involved throwing eggs and stones at the Indian High Commission in London.
In an open letter to the Prime Minister, Love expressed regret for his actions and apologized for his mistake. He requested the Prime Minister’s intervention to allow him to attend his mother’s last rites, which had been kept at the mortuary of the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu. Love’s mother, Jay Mala, a Supreme Court lawyer, passed away on April 26, 2023.
Love’s emergency visa was granted on the condition that he apologizes to the Indian authorities and promises not to engage in any such act against the country in the future. Love expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and everyone who supported him in his efforts to attend his mother’s funeral.
The JKNPP has been in disarray since the death of its founder Bhim Singh in May 2022, with Love’s relatives engaged in a tussle to take control of the party. Love was unable to attend his father’s funeral as well.
