Rajouri, May 06 : Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Army’s Northern Command, conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing anti-terror operation in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, which resulted in the neutralization of one terrorist on Saturday, has seen significant developments.
The operation follows a previous encounter in the Kandi forests of Rajouri, during which five soldiers tragically lost their lives in a gunfight with the terrorists. Continuing their relentless pursuit, the Army established gunfire contact with the hiding terrorists once again on Saturday, leading to sustained firing exchanges.
Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi visited the ground zero of the operation in Kandi, Rajouri, to assess the operational situation. The Army’s Northern Command, on their Twitter page, confirmed that the commander was thoroughly briefed by the ground commanders regarding all aspects of the ongoing operations.
Providing updates on Saturday’s progress, the Army reported that one terrorist had been neutralized in the intense gun battle, and another was likely injured. Notable recoveries from the scene included 1 AK56 rifle, 4 AK magazines, 56 rounds of AK ammunition, 1 9mm pistol with a magazine, 3 grenades, and 1 ammunition pouch. The identity of the neutralized terrorist is currently being ascertained, while the operation remains underway.
In addition to Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi’s visit, senior Army and police officers also visited the encounter site in Rajouri, where the operation took place on Friday. Their presence and assessment signify the collective commitment of the security forces to combatting terrorism and restoring peace in the region.
