Jammu, May 10: In response to reports of suspicious activity, security forces initiated a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Poonch town, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, carried out in Khakha Nawan, Purani Poonch, and Jernally Mohalla areas, was prompted by the sighting of armed individuals by local residents. As a precautionary measure, two schools in the town have been temporarily closed. Security forces remain on high alert following a recent terrorist attack in Bhatta Dhurian, where five soldiers lost their lives on April 20. Additionally, Operation Trinetra is underway in the neighboring border district of Rajouri’s Kandi forests after five paratroopers were killed in an explosion during a previous CASO conducted by terrorists last Friday.
