Srinagar, May 10: Jammu and Kashmir experienced below-normal night temperatures on Wednesday amidst the forecast of mainly dry weather. The meteorological department stated that the weather is likely to remain dry until May 12.
However, from May 13-15, there is a possibility of rain and thunderstorms in isolated areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
In terms of temperature, Srinagar recorded a low of 6.4°C, which is 4.3°C below the normal for the summer capital. Similarly, Qazigund registered a low of 4.0°C, below normal by 5.2°C for the gateway town of Kashmir.
Pahalgam, the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 0.3°C, which is 5.8°C below normal. Kupwara town settled at 4.2°C, 5.1°C below normal for the north Kashmir region.
Other temperature readings include Kokernag at 4.9°C (4.9°C below normal), Gulmarg at 1.0°C (4.2°C below normal), Jammu at 15.8°C (7.2°C below normal), Banihal at 8.4°C (2.5°C below normal), Batote at 9.7°C (3.1°C below normal), Katra at 15.0°C (4.7°C below normal), and Bhaderwah at 6.0°C (3.6°C below normal). Leh in Ladakh recorded a low of minus 3.8°C.
These weather conditions indicate the persistence of below-normal night temperatures across various regions of Jammu and Kashmir amidst the anticipation of dry weather in the coming days.
