JAMMU, June 21: In preparation for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, a senior BSF officer stated that they are fully geared up to ensure a smooth and secure pilgrimage. On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, hundreds of BSF personnel took part in a yoga session held at the Octerio Border Outpost.
Speaking about the significance of yoga for their soldiers, BSF Deputy Inspector General Chiter Pal highlighted its role in promoting good health and reducing stress. He emphasized that incorporating yoga into their daily routine enables the soldiers to fulfill their duties efficiently.
Regarding the upcoming Amarnath pilgrimage scheduled to commence on July 1, the DIG stated that it poses their biggest challenge. However, he assured that they have made comprehensive preparations and that their jawans are fully equipped and alert to ensure a safe and successful yatra.
The annual Amarnath Yatra takes pilgrims to the sacred cave shrine situated at an elevation of 3,880 meters in south Kashmir. The pilgrimage will continue until August 31 and can be undertaken via two routes: the traditional 48-km route through Pahalgam in Anantnag district, and the shorter but steeper 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.
