Srinagar, June 24: Night temperatures in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir continued to rise, with Srinagar experiencing temperatures six degrees above normal on Saturday. According to a meteorological department official, the summer capital recorded a low of 22.4°C, indicating a deviation of 6.6°C from the previous night. Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, witnessed a low of 20.0°C, which was 5.7°C higher than normal. Pahalgam, the renowned tourist resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 13.3°C, marking a deviation of 4.2°C above normal. Kupwara town experienced a low of 19.6°C, surpassing normal levels by 5.5°C. Kokernag recorded a low of 20.0°C, exceeding normal levels by 5.9°C. Gulmarg, the famous skiing destination, had a low of 14.4°C, which was 4.2°C above normal. In Jammu, the winter capital, temperatures settled at a low of 28.5°C, exceeding normal levels by 2.4°C. Banihal, Batote, Katra, and Bhaderwah also experienced variations in temperatures. Leh and Kargil in Ladakh recorded lows of 12.0°C and 15.8°C, respectively. The meteorological department forecasted isolated light rain/thundershowers in the Kashmir division and widespread light to moderate rain/thundershowers in the Jammu division for the next 24 hours. From June 25-28, the region is expected to experience generally cloudy weather with intermittent light to moderate thundershowers at many places.
