New Delhi, June 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to preside over a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers on July 3, according to officials. The announcement comes following extensive discussions between Modi and senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), fueling speculation about a potential reshuffle within the Council of Ministers.
The upcoming meeting, expected to take place at the newly constructed convention center in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, which will also host the G20 summit in September. Modi recently engaged in extensive discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and other prominent figures.
Nadda’s presence in the meeting has raised conjecture about potential changes in the government and BJP organization, both at the state level and in preparation for upcoming assembly elections later this year and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Over the past few days, Shah, Nadda, and BJP General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh have held multiple rounds of discussions concerning organizational and political matters.
Several states, including Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram, are slated for elections later this year. The Council of Ministers’ meeting will take place just before the Monsoon Session of Parliament, anticipated to commence in the third week of July.
