Kashmir, July 07 – A total of 84,768 pilgrims have visited the revered Amarnath cave shrine in the first seven days of the pilgrimage. On Thursday alone, 17,202 devotees offered their prayers at the shrine.
Among the pilgrims, there were 12,408 men, 4,095 females, 490 children, 192 Sadhus, and 17 Sadhvis, according to an official spokesman.
The pilgrimage to Amarnath continues to witness a steady increase in the number of participants, making it one of the most successful yatras in the country. The entire yatra is closely monitored from the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at HMT, which has been operational since 2022.
The ICCC at HMT is equipped with RFID technology, enabling real-time remote monitoring of the yatra. Various departments utilize this system to communicate and coordinate with their field staff, ensuring the smooth facilitation of pilgrims’ requirements from Srinagar.
The ICCC plays a crucial role in disaster management through effective utilization of information and communication technologies. By integrating RFID, the system enables efficient crowd control, traffic management, and coordination among all stakeholders.
Additionally, data analysis and simulation models contribute to disaster mitigation and proactive decision-making.
During his second visit in a fortnight, Dr. Sujoy Lal Thaosen, Director General of CRPF, personally oversaw the security arrangements for the Sri Amarnathji Yatra. He inspected camps along the security grid established by the forces and interacted with pilgrims from various parts of the country.
Starting from the Base Camp Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu, the DG CRPF accompanied the Yatra convoys from Jammu to Baltal and Pahalgam, reviewing the safety and security measures along the designated routes. CRPF personnel also ensure the security of the National Highway during the pilgrimage.
During his visit to the Baltal Base Camp, the DG CRPF thoroughly examined the security arrangements to ensure the safety of the pilgrims. He personally undertook the arduous trek from Baltal to the Holy Cave, interacting with the Mountain Rescue Team of CRPF and assessing their preparedness for natural disasters and assistance or evacuation of injured or needy pilgrims.
The pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave Shrine continues to progress with great enthusiasm, facilitated by robust security and monitoring measures.
