JAMMU, July 10: Jammu and Kashmir experienced two earthquakes of medium intensity on Monday, with no reports of casualties or property damage received thus far. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the initial quake measured 4.9 on the Richter scale and struck at 5:38 a.m. The epicenter of the first tremor was located in the Doda region of Jammu and Kashmir, at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the surface.
Shortly after, at 5:43 a.m., a second earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale occurred, once again with an epicenter in the Doda region. This tremor was recorded 8 kilometers below the surface. Kashmir, being situated in a highly sensitive seismic zone, has witnessed devastating earthquakes in the past. However, in this instance, no significant damage or casualties have been reported.
