Dras (Ladakh), Jul 26 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted India’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its honor and dignity, stating that the country is prepared to cross the Line of Control (LoC) if necessary. Speaking at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Ladakh, on the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas, he paid tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil war. Singh condemned the war, emphasizing that it was imposed on India, and praised the soldiers’ selflessness in putting the nation first.
Drawing inspiration from the Russia-Ukraine war, the Defence Minister highlighted the importance of civilian support in times of conflict. He urged the public to stand ready to directly support the armed forces in the battlefield when needed. Singh affirmed that India’s commitment to upholding the country’s honor and dignity knows no bounds, even if it entails crossing the LoC.
The Kargil war marked a crucial moment in India’s history when the Indian Army fiercely countered Pakistani forces that had surreptitiously occupied strategic heights in Ladakh in 1999. Kargil Vijay Diwas is a solemn occasion that commemorates India’s victory over Pakistan during that conflict.
