Srinagar, August 8th: A fresh contingent of pilgrims embarked on their journey to the revered Amarnath cave shrine from the Pantha Chowk base camp in Srinagar on Tuesday morning. The pilgrims set out for the holy Amarnath Cave via the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, departing from the Pantha Chowk base camp.
On Monday morning, a group of pilgrims had also commenced their pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine from the Pantha Chowk base camp.
Enthusiastically chanting ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ slogans, the pilgrims proceeded along their path to the sacred shrine.
Expressing satisfaction with the arrangements made for the yatra, one pilgrim, Devi Lal Kumawat, shared, “The arrangements made for the yatra are very good, I have not seen such a facility anywhere, I would like to thank our Army for this. I will come here every year.”
The local administration and residents extended their support, contributing to the positive experience for the pilgrims. Many voiced their contentment with the visit to Kashmir, emphasizing the cooperative spirit of the local populace.
The ongoing 62-day-long Amarnath Yatra, which commenced on July 1st, is scheduled to conclude on August 31, 2023.
In anticipation of Independence Day celebrations and the upcoming Budda Amarnath Yatra, the Additional Director General of Police for the Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, along with Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and DIG Rajouri Poonch Range Haseeb Mughal, conducted a comprehensive review of security arrangements.
During the review, security and related matters were discussed with inputs from SSP Poonch Vinay Kumar and DC Poonch Yaseen Mohd Choudhary.
Furthermore, a meeting between the ADGP Jammu, Divisional Commissioner, and the civil society members of Poonch took place, where prominent legal professionals and elected representatives participated. The attendees conveyed their commitment to ensuring smooth Independence Day celebrations and a peaceful conduct of the yatra.
