Gujarat, Aug 12: Amit Shah, Union Home and Cooperation Minister, emphasized the importance of initiating a new green revolution in India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to serve as a model for natural farming worldwide and uplift the livelihood of farmers. This agricultural transformation is expected to attract global wealth to India through the promotion of organic products and the creation of markets for them.
Speaking at the groundbreaking event for IFFCO’s nano DAP (liquid) plant in Kandla, Gujarat, Shah disclosed that the facility will produce approximately two lakh bottles of 500 ml liquid daily. This endeavor aims to decrease India’s reliance on imported fertilizers and save around ₹10,000 crore in fertilizer subsidies.
Shah stressed that this envisioned green revolution transcends mere production goals. While acknowledging India’s history of needing to import wheat and rice, he credited subsequent administrations and PM Modi’s scientific approach for achieving self-sufficiency in food grains. However, Shah argued for a new green revolution centered on guiding the world in natural farming practices and reaping financial benefits by exporting organic products.
The objectives of this modern green revolution include ensuring India’s self-sufficiency not only in staples like wheat and rice but also in various food items like pulses and oilseeds. Additionally, it aims to boost per-acre yields through natural farming practices, conserving soil health, and establishing robust markets for organic produce, thereby enhancing farmers’ prosperity.
Shah confirmed that the Modi government remains steadfast in realizing these ambitions, with three multi-state cooperative societies already set up to facilitate the process. The newly developed liquid nano urea at the IFFCO plant is expected to improve soil fertility and mitigate chemical pollution, contributing to India’s self-reliance in urea and DAP fertilizers.
Furthermore, Shah emphasized that the fiscal savings from fertilizer subsidies will be reinvested in farmers and the nation. The Modi government’s efforts have transformed primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) into common service centers (CSC), pivotal to rural economies.
Spanning 70 acres, the Kandla plant, with an investment of ₹350 crore, will manufacture two lakh nano bottles of 500 ml for domestic and international distribution. According to IFFCO, the liquid nano urea is an environmentally friendly fertilizer with high nutrient efficiency and a sustainable solution for pollution reduction and global warming. Its unique properties, with significantly greater surface area compared to conventional urea, make it an innovative alternative.
A new era of agricultural transformation is being set in motion as India strives to lead in natural farming practices and emerge as a beacon of sustainable agricultural prosperity.”
