New Delhi, August 18th: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking virtually, called upon members of the BJP’s ‘Zila Panchayat’ to transform various development initiatives into a nationwide movement. He emphasized that the “flame of progress” should illuminate every village, tehsil, and district, leading India towards developed status by the year 2047.
Addressing a “Kshetriya Panchayati Raj Parishad,” which included local body members from states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi emphasized that the mantra of “sabka saath, sabka vikas” (inclusive growth for all) goes beyond being a mere slogan for the BJP; it should be integrated into every aspect of their actions.
The event was hosted in Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, with BJP President J P Nadda also present during the Prime Minister’s address.
Drawing from his own experiences as both a chief minister and prime minister, Modi urged those serving in various capacities within local bodies to prioritize undertaking projects for the advancement of their villages and districts. He encouraged them to garner public support and ensure the success of these initiatives.
Reflecting on his tenure as the head of the central government, Modi highlighted the focus on constructing toilets and facilitating bank accounts for the underprivileged.
He advised Zila Panchayat members to annually prioritize three projects, noting the substantial increase in funding for local bodies, with resources no longer being a limitation. The grant, which used to be around Rs 70,000 crore, has now exceeded Rs 3 lakh crore, Modi shared. He also pointed out the construction of over 30,000 Zila Panchayat buildings and emphasized the allocation of a portion of the MNREGA budget for asset creation.
Modi acknowledged the BJP’s ongoing efforts at the grassroots level to conduct similar workshops, highlighting that the party’s intent goes beyond electoral victories. Instead, it is aimed at contributing to India’s transformation into a developed nation by the year 2047.
