Nalanda, August 21: The National President of Janata Dal (United), Lalan Singh, has expressed apprehension about the state of India’s Constitution under the governance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has also voiced concerns about the potential for a “Narendra Modi Constitution” to replace the existing one if the BJP regains power.
Speaking at a party gathering in Nalanda, Lalan Singh criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nine-year tenure as the leader of the nation. He pointedly questioned the accomplishments achieved during this time frame.
“…In the event that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reelected in 2024, there are concerns that he might seek to amend the Constitution formulated by Dr. BR Ambedkar, replacing it with a ‘Narendra Modi Constitution’… The Prime Minister ought to disclose the tangible developmental strides achieved during his past 9 years in office,” stated Lalan Singh on Sunday.
Furthermore, Lalan Singh highlighted the BJP’s unease following the establishment of the INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) coalition. He praised Nitish Kumar’s efforts to unite opposition parties across the nation. He went on to criticize the Modi government for what he perceived as financial exploitation of the public, contrasting it with their promises of repatriating illicit funds to the country.
The formation of the INDIA bloc, an alliance of 26 parties, transpired after a second round of discussions among opposition leaders in Bengaluru, Karnataka on July 17-18. This coalition is aimed at contesting the BJP-led Central government in the forthcoming general elections scheduled for 2024.
