New Delhi, Aug 28: Speaking at a Rozgar Mela in the capital, Union Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh, highlighted the considerable growth in employment over the course of the nine-year tenure of the Modi government. He noted that during this period, the government had provided nine lakh jobs to the nation’s youth, marking a significant achievement.
Minister Jitendra Singh emphasized that the expansion of employment opportunities under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership extended beyond just government jobs. He stated that the youth had gained an understanding that employment encompassed more than just positions in the government sector.
Addressing the audience, Singh addressed the difference between employment generation during the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) National Democratic Alliance (NDA) administration, which PM Modi leads. He revealed that under the UPA’s first nine years (2004 to 2013), six lakh jobs were created, whereas the Modi government had provided nine lakh jobs—an increase of 60 to 70 percent.
Minister Singh offered a comparative analysis of recruitments conducted by three major government recruitment agencies: the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), during both the UPA and NDA periods.
The SSC, under the UPA, recruited two lakh individuals, while it recruited more than four lakh during the NDA’s rule. Similarly, the RRB carried out 3,47,291 recruitments under the UPA’s tenure, compared to over 4.2 lakh recruitments under the NDA’s tenure.
In terms of UPSC recruitments, 45,431 youths were recruited during the UPA’s tenure, while 50,906 were recruited during the nine years of the Modi government.
Minister Singh also highlighted the substantial promotions granted to government employees by the central government. He exemplified the significant increase in promotions at various levels, from joint secretary to director, under PM Modi’s leadership. These promotions, he stated, had not only opened up new job opportunities but were facilitated by the government’s commitment to a corruption-free environment that encouraged government employees to excel in their roles.
