London, September 8: Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader within the Congress Party and the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, expressed his disappointment on Friday, revealing that Congress Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge has not received an invitation to the G20 gala dinner. Gandhi accused the government of neglecting the leaders who represent 60 percent of India’s population.
The G20 gala dinner, hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, is scheduled for Saturday at Bharat Mandapam, the venue for the G20 summit of world leaders.
Speaking to the media at the Brussels Press Club in Brussels, Rahul Gandhi commented on the government’s decision, implying it reflects their mindset.
“It tells you something,” Gandhi remarked in response to a question. “They have chosen not to extend an invitation to the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Kharge. This decision sends a message that they do not value the leader who represents 60% of India’s population.”
He urged people to contemplate the reasons behind this exclusion and the underlying thought process. Gandhi is currently on a European tour encompassing Belgium, France, and Norway. During his visit, he conducted closed-door meetings with certain members of the European Parliament (MEPs) in Brussels on Thursday.
