Jammu, September 12 : In a concerning development, terrorists targeted a search party in a remote village within the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, resulting in an injury to a security personnel, according to officials.
Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police for the Jammu Zone, reported that the encounter between the terrorists and security forces initiated in Narla village in Rajouri. The Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police are actively engaged in the operation, and further updates are pending, he confirmed.
Initial reports indicate that a security jawan sustained injuries during the initial exchange of fire. Reinforcements have been swiftly dispatched to the area with the aim of neutralizing the terrorists.
The sequence of events began with a search and cordon operation launched in the densely wooded Patrada area on Monday evening. Security forces fired shots upon observing suspicious movement involving two individuals. However, the suspects managed to evade capture by taking advantage of the cover of darkness and dense foliage. They left behind a rucksack containing various items, which was subsequently recovered by the search parties.
The security forces extended the cordon and search operation to encompass neighboring areas, including Bambel and Narla, in their efforts to track down the fleeing terrorists. As of the latest updates, an exchange of gunfire between the two sides continues.
