Srinagar, October 3: Inspector General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Ajay Kumar Yadav, declared on Tuesday that Srinagar is currently in a state of peace, with no signs of terrorism.
During the CRPF All Women Motorcycle Expedition 2023, which was earlier inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in the historic Lal Chowk, IG CRPF for the Srinagar sector made these remarks. He pointed out that the large gathering of people in Lal Chowk on that day reflects a peaceful environment.
“You are here in Lal Chowk today, and there is a significant gathering of people around… where is the terrorism? There can be no better peaceful atmosphere anywhere else,” he remarked to reporters.
The Women Bike Expedition was inaugurated from Lal Chowk and is set to cover over 2134 kilometers, passing through 40 districts to reach Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on October 31, coinciding with the birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
IG CRPF mentioned that the objective of the All Women Bike Expedition is to convey a message to the general public, especially to girls and women achievers, that a women’s bike rally is being launched from the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
He emphasized that the women’s wing of CRPF is actively participating alongside their male counterparts in various events. He noted that the women of CRPF are also engaged in anti-militancy operations and other security responsibilities, including patrolling and Road Opening Procedures (ROP), alongside their male colleagues.
The IG CRPF stated that organizing such an event is aimed at integrating women into the mainline of CRPF and boosting their personal confidence and self-belief.
