Bhopal, Oct 9: As the political landscape in Madhya Pradesh buzzes with discussions about the BJP’s chief ministerial candidate for the forthcoming assembly polls, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal has reiterated that the ‘lotus’ symbolizes the party in every election.
The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh has sparked speculation with its choice of candidates, including Union ministers, for the upcoming assembly elections, leading to a debate about the party’s potential chief ministerial candidate.
When asked about the BJP’s chief ministerial face in Madhya Pradesh, Piyush Goyal, speaking to reporters in Neemuch, stated, “Lotus is our face in every election. Lotus is revered by all of us. We go among the people with the lotus.”
Goyal emphasized the party’s collective commitment to contribute to India’s development, saying, “We are all workers and have a commitment to make India a developed country.”
He expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge victorious in the upcoming elections and emphasized the party’s dedication to bringing happiness and prosperity to every Indian, fulfilling their aspirations, and promoting good governance.
A recent statement by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has led the main opposition Congress to claim that he is attempting to exert pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chouhan had asked the public whether he was running a good or bad government and whether he should become chief minister again.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, during a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh, asserted that Chouhan would not become the chief minister after the elections.
In response to Chouhan’s remarks, Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath claimed that the Chief Minister was trying to exert pressure on PM Modi.
The BJP has yet to announce its candidates for all 230 assembly seats in the state, but it has already fielded prominent figures, including Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel, and Faggan Singh Kulaste, as well as senior leader Kailash Vijayvargiya.
In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, the Congress secured 114 seats in the 230-member House, while the BJP won 109 seats. However, the Congress government collapsed after 15 months when several Congress MLAs, primarily loyal to Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, joined the BJP. The BJP then returned to power in March 2020, with Shivraj Singh Chouhan serving as chief minister once again.
