Amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hamas, the Biden administration has commenced the delivery of munitions to Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the arrival of the first plane carrying US armaments in southern Israel, though specific details regarding the types of weapons and military equipment received were not disclosed.
In an official statement, the IDF emphasized the significance of military cooperation between the two nations in maintaining regional security and stability during times of conflict.
Simultaneously, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu engaged in a third telephone conversation with US President Joe Biden on Tuesday. Following the conversation, Netanyahu took to a social media platform to express his perspective, stating that he had informed President Biden that Hamas should be treated with the same severity as ISIS. President Biden, in response, reiterated the unwavering US support for Israel’s right to defend itself, a sentiment that was deeply appreciated by the Israeli Prime Minister.
As the conflict with Hamas enters its fourth day, the IDF reported over a thousand Israeli casualties, with more than 2,800 individuals injured, and 50 confirmed as hostages or missing. The IDF further noted that Gaza had fired over 4,500 rockets into Israel. Conversely, over 770 Palestinians have lost their lives in Israeli air raids as part of a robust counter-offensive. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that among the casualties were 140 children and 120 women.
In a resolute message to Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that while Israel did not initiate the conflict, it would see it through to its conclusion. He stated, “Israel is at war. We didn’t want this war. It was forced upon us in the most brutal and savage way. But though Israel didn’t start this war, Israel will finish it.”
The conflict began when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7, initiating a series of rocket strikes on southern and central parts of the country.
