Srinagar, Oct 14: The higher reaches of the Kashmir Valley woke up to a fresh layer of snow on Saturday morning, while the plains experienced heavy rainfall, resulting in a noticeable drop in maximum temperatures.
According to an official, the higher reaches of the Gurez Valley, including Razdan Pass, received a fresh coating of snow, while the plains saw continuous heavy rain. The combination of rain and snowfall during the night led authorities to close the Bandipora-Gurez road.
In addition, rain affected various parts of the Kashmir Valley, causing a significant decrease in the maximum temperature. Sinthan Top and Margan Roads were also closed for traffic due to the snowfall and heavy rain in the area.
The Meteorological Department in Kashmir had previously predicted rain and snow in higher reaches at scattered locations across Jammu and Kashmir on Friday night.
