Ramban, Oct 17: Relentless Rainfall Forces Closure of National Highway-44; Schools Shut in Ramban District
On Tuesday, Ramban district witnessed the blockade of National Highway-44 due to unceasing rain, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Mussarat Zia in a social media announcement on X. The continuous downpour has rendered travel on NH-44 unsafe, and people have been strongly advised to postpone their journeys for the day.
Moreover, as a precautionary measure in light of the persistent rainfall, all government and private schools in Ramban district, up to the Higher Secondary level, will remain closed for the day. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that any scheduled exams will proceed as planned, as per the notified date.
According to the India Meteorological Department’s forecast, several districts in Jammu and Kashmir are expected to experience isolated heavy rain accompanied by the possibility of lightning and thunderstorms on October 17.
