NEW DELHI : Dr. Jitendra Singh: Modi Accomplished Patel’s Unfinished Task in J&K, Says “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” Significance In a speech at the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” celebration in New Delhi, Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had completed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s unfinished task in Jammu & Kashmir. Singh praised Patel’s role in integrating over 560 princely states to form the Indian Union after independence, but noted that Patel was not allowed to handle Jammu & Kashmir due to Jawaharlal Nehru’s belief that he knew the region better. Singh criticized Nehru’s decision to declare a unilateral ceasefire, which prevented Indian forces from retaking the present ‘Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir’ from intruders. Singh argued that if Patel had been given a free hand, the history of the Indian subcontinent would have been different, and PoJK would not exist today. Singh also highlighted the significance of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,’ which Modi declared on Patel’s 140th birth anniversary in 2015, and argued that Modi’s actions had corrected the anomaly of Article 370 and 35A in J&K. Singh further discussed how the North East had undergone significant development under Modi’s leadership, and the region had become a model of ‘Vikas’ for the rest of India. Finally, Singh praised Modi for uniting India and bringing in a new political culture that broke down barriers between people.
