Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a resolute message to the leaders of the Rajasthan BJP, underscoring the pivotal role of party unity in the upcoming state Assembly elections.
During a gathering of senior leaders from the Rajasthan BJP at the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting, Modi addressed the internal factionalism within the state unit and urged all leaders to unite in their shared objective of securing victory in the impending Assembly elections.
The meeting included the presence of notable figures such as former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, along with several other senior leaders of the Rajasthan BJP, who are considered contenders for the position of Chief Minister.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to deliberate and finalize the selection of candidates for the remaining seats in the state.
The CEC of the party also engaged in discussions regarding candidate nominations for 94 seats in Madhya Pradesh during the meeting on Friday, with 92 names confirmed for these positions. It is anticipated that the subsequent list of candidates for these two states will be unveiled over the weekend.
The BJP had already unveiled four lists encompassing 136 candidates for the forthcoming elections for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly, with the polling date set for November 17.
Concerning the Rajasthan Assembly elections, the party discussed candidate nominations for more than 100 seats on Friday. However, the CEC meeting resulted in the finalization of 79 candidates for these positions, as per insider sources.
Notably, the BJP had thus far released only one list of candidates for Rajasthan. This initial list, revealed on October 9, introduced the names of 41 candidates. The elections in Rajasthan are scheduled for November 25, with voters electing 200 members to the state Assembly.
The meeting on Friday also delved into discussions regarding Telangana candidates.
