Srinagar, Apr 22: Despite overcast weather conditions, Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at various locations, including spacious Eidgahs and mosques. Thousands of believers gathered at Hazratbal and other shrines, while prayers were also held at Jamia Masjid Bandipora, Jamia Masjid Baramulla, Jamia Masjid Kupwara, and other local mosques in north Kashmir. Similarly, prayers were offered in south Kashmir at Jamia Masjid Hanfia, Jamia Masjid Ahle Hadith, and Bait-ul-Mukarram, among others. However, authorities denied permission for Eid prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid Nowhatta in Srinagar, which sparked criticism from the Grand Mufti, J&K, Nasir-ul-Islam. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, and other officials extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Several social and political organizations also congratulated the people on this auspicious occasion.
