New Delhi: In a significant achievement, Jio users in India have set a new record by consuming a total of 10 exabytes (or 10 billion gigabytes) of data in a single month. The surge in data usage has been attributed to the growing popularity of digital content and increased use of online services during the ongoing pandemic.
Jio, owned by the conglomerate Reliance Industries, has been a major player in the Indian telecom market since its launch in 2016. The company’s affordable data plans and high-speed internet services have helped democratize access to digital services for millions of Indians.
According to a statement by Jio, the company’s network handles more than 630 crore gigabytes of data traffic every month, making it one of the largest mobile data networks in the world. The company is also actively expanding its network infrastructure and rolling out 5G services in India.
The unprecedented surge in data consumption by Jio users is a testament to the increasing digitalization of India’s economy and society, with more and more people relying on digital services for work, education, entertainment, and communication.
