New Delhi, Apr 26 : E Palaniswami, the leader of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday. Palaniswami’s visit to the national capital comes amid speculations of a possible realignment of political forces in Tamil Nadu ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
According to sources, Palaniswami is likely to discuss the political situation in Tamil Nadu and the upcoming assembly polls with Shah. The AIADMK, which is currently in power in the state, is facing a tough challenge from the DMK-Congress alliance.
Palaniswami’s meeting with Shah assumes significance as the BJP has been trying to make inroads into Tamil Nadu for several years now. The saffron party had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the AIADMK, but failed to win a single seat in the state.
