SRINAGAR, Aug 19: All India Radio Srinagar is gearing up for a noteworthy event that aims to commemorate India’s significant role in the current G20 Presidency. The occasion also serves as a platform for cultural exchange and artistic expression, as it prepares to host a Pahadi poetic symposium at Tangdhar Karnah, along the Line of Control (LoC), on August 24.
Pahadi poets hailing from various districts within the Union Territory are set to converge at Tangdhar, united by their shared passion for poetry and a desire to showcase the depth of the Pahari literary tradition. Their verses will echo the vibrant essence of Pahari culture and heritage against the backdrop of the picturesque landscapes of the region.
The event’s significance extends beyond poetry, as a mesmerizing musical show will grace the gathering, featuring performances by local Pahari artists of prominence. This celebration of art and culture is intended not only to uplift Pahari poetry and music but also to promote cross-border tourism and invigorate the local economy.
Maqsood Ahmad, Senior Pex and Producer of the acclaimed program “Shaherbeen and Pahari,” voiced his enthusiasm, emphasizing the event’s role in facilitating interaction among writers near the LoC. Ahmad noted the positive outcome of a recent cultural show at LoC Keran on July 27, which attracted tourists and spotlighted the region.
The forthcoming symposium at LoC Tangdhar Karnah is a continuation of All India Radio’s ongoing commitment to nurturing cultural and artistic pursuits in the region. Ahmad unveiled future plans, including similar programs for the upcoming Rustom festival at Uri and within the Machil sector. Additionally, efforts to promote the Sheena language and its cultural intricacies will lead to similar programs in Tulel and the Gurez Valley.
Ahmad emphasized the unwavering objective: to celebrate the region’s heritage and abundant talent, while fostering deeper connectivity and understanding through the medium of cultural exchange.
