J&K : In Jammu and Kashmir, the journey of fresh Amarnath Yatra pilgrims from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu to the twin destinations of Pahalgam and Baltal has been temporarily suspended until August 15. According to the Jammu Correspondent, the 38th batch consisting of 915 Amarnath pilgrims departed for Pahalgam and Baltal from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp on Saturday. Since July 1, a cumulative total of 431,173 pilgrims have made their way to the Amarnath Cave Shrine.
The 62-day annual pilgrimage to the sacred cave shrine, located at an elevation of 3,888 meters in the south Kashmir Himalayas, commenced on July 1 via the Pahalgam and Baltal tracks. The pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 31, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and the Raksha Bandhan festival.
