Jaipur, September 28 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President J P Nadda conducted overnight deliberations with the party’s Rajasthan leadership in Jaipur, addressing a wide range of issues pertaining to the forthcoming assembly elections.
The meeting, which commenced late on Wednesday evening at a hotel, extended until 2 am, as per party sources on Thursday. The discussions took place amid speculation that two central ministers could be nominated to contest the impending polls. This speculation emerged following the BJP’s decision to include three Union ministers and four MPs in its second list of candidates for the forthcoming Madhya Pradesh elections.
Post the meeting, both Amit Shah and J P Nadda departed for Delhi on Thursday. Notably, there was no scheduled meeting with local RSS leaders, party sources confirmed.
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, speaking to reporters at the hotel on Thursday, shared, “Discussions on election strategy were held in the meeting last night.”
A special plane brought Shah and Nadda to Jaipur on Wednesday evening, where they proceeded to the hotel near the airport for the core committee meeting. The proceedings began with a 15-minute meeting between Shah, Nadda, and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, followed by discussions with senior leaders focusing on the party’s election strategy. Feedback on the four ‘Parivartan Yatras’ conducted by the BJP recently was also a topic of conversation.
The attendees included Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Co-in-charge Nitin Patel, BJP’s in-charge for Rajasthan Arun Singh, State Unit President C P Joshi, Union Ministers Gajendra Singh, Arjun Meghwal, Kailash Chaudhary, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Rajendra Rathore, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Satish Poonia, and other prominent leaders. The meeting spanned approximately three hours, with Poonia and MP Rajyavardhan Rathore being the first to depart after the initial round.
Subsequently, Nadda and Shah conducted the next round of meetings with BJP’s National General Secretary (Organisation) B L Santosh, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Nitin Patel, Arun Singh, Kuldeep Vishnoi, and Vijaya Rahatkar, among others, as per party sources. The discussions involved an examination of assembly constituencies and brainstorming strategies to secure maximum seats in various regions for both assembly and Lok Sabha elections, including Mewar, Vagad, Shekhawati, Hadauti, Marwar, and eastern Rajasthan.
A source remarked, “During the meeting, a clear message was conveyed that the party organization is of paramount importance, and all members must collaborate to ensure the party’s victory in the elections.” While some leaders indicated that topics such as ticket distribution and other election-related matters were discussed, leaders emerging from the hotel refrained from sharing specific details with the media.
Narayan Panchariya, Convener of the Election Management Committee, noted that an authorized representative of the party would provide further details of the meeting to the media. Additionally, there is speculation that senior RSS pracharak Prakash Chand may assume certain responsibilities in the upcoming Assembly election.
