Jammu, June 23: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jammu for his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. He was received at the technical area of Jammu airport by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh, senior civil and police officials, paramilitary officers, and senior leaders of the BJP.
Following his arrival, Shah proceeded to the BJP headquarters in the city, where he paid tribute to the RSS ideologue, Syama Prasad Mukherjee, on his martyrdom anniversary. Mukherjee, who advocated for “One constitution, one Prime Minister, and one flag,” was arrested in 1948 for defying the permit laws in force in Jammu and Kashmir.
During his visit, Shah is scheduled to address a public rally in the Bhagwati Nagar area of Jammu. He will also inaugurate various developmental projects and lay the foundation stone for others. Additionally, it is expected that he will visit the Shri Tirupati Balaji temple on the outskirts of Jammu city.
In the afternoon, Shah will fly to Srinagar, where he will attend the Vitasta festival and chair a high-level security meeting to review the arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, which will commence on July 1 and conclude on August 31, spanning a duration of 62 days.
On Saturday, the home minister will lay the foundation of the ‘Balidan Stambh’ in Pratap Park, located adjacent to the historic city centre of Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
