Amit Shah: Modi Government Revamps India’s Health Infrastructure

New Delhi, June 8: Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the efforts of the Modi government in revolutionizing India’s healthcare system over the past nine years. He emphasized that the government has extensively revamped the country’s health infrastructure, ranging from primary to tertiary levels, and has ensured free treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh for the underprivileged. Shah highlighted the government’s commitment to making healthcare accessible to all, leveraging technology for services such as Covid vaccination, telemedicine, hospital registration, and health record access. The Ayushman Bharat scheme, a significant healthcare initiative, provides a defined benefit cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year, encompassing secondary and most tertiary care procedures, with no limitations on family size or age. Pre- and post-hospitalization expenses and coverage of pre-existing conditions from the policy’s inception further enhance its comprehensive nature. Additionally, beneficiaries receive a designated transport allowance per hospitalization under the scheme.
