The 62-day Amarnath Yatra, starting from July 1 and concluding on August 31, holds immense religious significance for Hindus who visit the Amarnath Cave, believed to be the divine abode of Lord Shiva. Pilgrims will embark on their sacred trek from the ancient paths of Nunwan in Pahalgam and Baltal in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir.
In preparation for the Yatra, several langar committees initiated their arrangements three days ahead of schedule to cater to the needs of the pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir. The committees set up sheds, cooking facilities, and gathered essential resources on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway, particularly in Udhampur district. A total of 22 langars have been established along the highway (NHW-44) this year.
In an official statement, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Raj Kumar Goyal, and Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Mandeep Kumar Bhandari were mentioned to have conducted an extensive tour of the pilgrimage routes. They focused on ensuring seamless coordination among various forces and stakeholders, emphasizing the identification of sensitive areas that may require additional arrangements for the pilgrims’ safety and comfort.
The statement further highlighted the officers’ directives to implement devised plans on the ground, prioritizing the security and well-being of the pilgrims. The officials were instructed to uphold the highest standards of professionalism while providing the necessary assistance and cooperation to the yatris.
Officials confirmed that all facilities, including medical care, sanitation, and other necessary arrangements, have been put in place by the Anantnag district administration in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the yatra. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid assured that extensive preparations have been made this year, encompassing RFID, sanitization, and comprehensive logistical arrangements.
The Amarnath Yatra not only promotes spiritual harmony but also fosters communal harmony, as emphasized by the officials involved in the arrangements.
