Srinagar, July 25 : Security forces successfully apprehended two associates of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, as reported by the police. The arrests were made in the Chak Tapper area of Kreeri Baramulla, following specific information about the movement of terrorists in the village.
A joint operation by the police and the Army led to the arrest of the suspected individuals at a motor vehicle checking point set up at Bus Stop Chak Tapper Kreeri. Despite their attempt to escape, the security forces tactfully apprehended them. Upon a thorough search, the law enforcement team recovered arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials from the possession of the arrested duo. The seized items included two Chinese pistols, two pistol magazines, and 14 live pistol rounds.
The arrested individuals were identified as Dayem Majeed Khan and Ubair Tariq, both residents of the neighboring Bandipora district. During preliminary questioning, they confessed to working as terrorist associates for the proscribed outfit LeT. Their primary objective was revealed to be engaging in target killings in District Baramulla.
A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the law at the Kreeri police station, and further investigations are underway.
