The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a nationwide campaign named ‘Voter Chetana Maha Abhiyaan’ with the goal of maximizing voter turnout in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Commencing on August 25th, this extensive campaign aims to achieve various objectives, including the registration of new voters, updating the details of voters who have changed their residences, eliminating uncertain voters, and rectifying inaccuracies in voter card information.
A dedicated team has been established, working at the grassroots level down to the booth level. The central focus of this campaign is the identification and removal of counterfeit voters, simultaneous with the addition of new eligible voters. This comprehensive effort will continue until the culmination of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, according to a BJP insider.
The campaign strategy involves door-to-door interactions, particularly targeting young individuals, to encourage their participation in the electoral process and to ensure their proper enrollment as voters. In each Vidhansabha (legislative assembly constituency), the emphasis will be on eradicating fraudulent voters and enrolling fresh ones. The goal is to register 20,000 new voters in larger Vidhansabhas, 10,000 in medium-sized ones, and 5,000 in Union Territories and smaller regions. The campaign will also focus on raising awareness and fostering engagement among new voters.
The BJP has entrusted the responsibility of executing this campaign primarily to its Mahila Morcha and Yuva Morcha wings. A specialized team consisting of eight members has been formed, with each member assigned to oversee the operations in six specific states.
Overseen by BJP’s Joint General Secretary (Organisation) Shiv Prakash, the team is led by a group of prominent individuals including BJP National General Secretary Kumar Sanjay Bandi and Dushyant Gautam, BJP Vice President Laxmikant Vajpayee and Rekha Verma, BJP National Secretary Satya Kumar and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, and BJP Kishan Morcha Chief Rajkumar Chahar. The coordination and execution of the campaign’s operations fall under the leadership of Shiv Prakash.
