May 10 : On Wednesday, B Y Vijayendra, a BJP leader and the son of former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, cast his vote in Shivamogga and expressed strong confidence in his party’s success, predicting a victory in 135 seats in the Karnataka Assembly polls.
Vijayendra attributed their anticipated triumph to “Modi’s magic,” emphasizing that they were poised to secure an absolute majority. He asserted that the BJP would win a minimum of 130 seats, garnering support not only from the Lingayat community but from all other castes as well. Furthermore, he predicted a significant defeat for the Congress party.
Before casting his vote, Vijayendra accompanied his father on a visit to their family’s ancestral temple at Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Shikaripura. Vijayendra himself is contesting from the Shikaripura constituency, which has traditionally been his father’s seat.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contest in his first election, Vijayendra expressed his confidence in the BJP’s ability to secure a majority. He believed that the people were weary of a hung assembly and expressed optimism in the BJP’s prospects.
Meanwhile, BS Yediyurappa, an early voter, cast his vote at Adalitha Soudha in Shivamogga. He urged all citizens to vote promptly, asserting his conviction that the majority would vote in favor of the BJP. Yediyurappa expressed his belief that the BJP would receive support from over 75-80% of the voters, securing a victory in 130-135 seats.
Confident in their triumph, Yediyurappa stated that there was no doubt about forming the government with an absolute majority. He cited positive responses from the people of Karnataka as the basis for his assertion, reinforcing his belief in securing a majority.
The polling for the Karnataka Assembly elections commenced at 7 am under strict security measures and will continue until 6 pm.
