New Delhi, Apr 15 : The Ministry of Home Affairs has made a significant decision to allow the constable (general duty) examination for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to be conducted in 13 regional languages, in addition to Hindi and English. The move is aimed at encouraging the participation of local youths in the CAPFs and promoting regional languages, according to an official statement.
The CAPFs include the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and the National Security Guard (NSG).
This historic decision was made under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and at the initiative of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The question paper for the exam will be available in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri, and Konkani.
The announcement follows a recent request by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to include Tamil as a language for the written exam in the recruitment for CRPF personnel. The notification for the CRPF recruitment exam previously mentioned that the test could be taken in English and Hindi.
This decision is expected to have a significant impact on the recruitment of CAPF personnel, as it will encourage more local youths to participate in the examination and pursue careers in the CAPFs.
