BUDGAM : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha delivered a speech at Panchayat Hardapanzoo, Budgam, during the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan. He highlighted the significance of the orientation and training program in facilitating the seamless implementation of 29 projects under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP). The Lt Governor emphasized that these initiatives aim to strengthen the agriculture and allied sectors, contributing to the achievement of inclusive growth.
In his address, the Lt Governor expressed the government’s enhanced focus on ensuring the sustainability of farm livelihoods. The implementation of the 29 projects under HADP will transform each village into a center of rural prosperity, he stated. Acknowledging the immense contribution of farmers to the progress of Jammu and Kashmir, the Lt Governor called upon society to honor the hard work of the 70% population in the UT who are dependent on agriculture. He highlighted that despite numerous challenges, this population works tirelessly day and night to provide sustenance to the people, making them the greatest strength of J&K.
The Lt Governor also shared the government’s vision, guided by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, for establishing a robust ecosystem to foster the growth of the agriculture sector in J&K. He expressed optimism that the rapid progress made in reviving the agriculture and allied sectors over the past three years will inspire more young individuals to embrace farming, leading to a brighter future for the upcoming generations.
Explaining the key features of the Holistic Agriculture Development Program, the Lt Governor highlighted that the HADP projects will enhance the capabilities of small and marginal farmers, improve their access to technology and institutional credit, and facilitate their entry into domestic and international markets. Additionally, critical infrastructure such as post-harvest processing facilities will be developed to support the agricultural sector’s growth.
