Bengaluru, August 1 : The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully maneuvered the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft into the translunar orbit, marking a crucial milestone in the mission. The spacecraft completed its orbits around the Earth and is now en route to the Moon. The translunar injection (TLI) was carried out flawlessly at ISTRAC (ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network), allowing the spacecraft to break free from Earth’s gravitational pull and embark on its journey towards the Moon.
The Lunar-Orbit Insertion (LOI) is scheduled for August 5, 2023, which will further position the spacecraft into the Moon’s orbit. Once it arrives at the Moon, ISRO aims to achieve a soft landing of the lander on the lunar surface on August 23.
Previously, after its launch on July 14, the spacecraft’s orbit was incrementally increased five times to prepare for the mission to the Moon. Now, as it begins its journey towards the Moon, ISRO is eagerly awaiting the successful completion of this significant lunar exploration endeavor.
