Bhaderwah, July 22: A powerful cloudburst struck Kota Nullah in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district early this morning, leading to the washing away of a section of the Thaleela-Chirala link road and triggering a flood-like situation. The Sub Divisional Magistrate of Thathri, Athar Amin Zargar, reported that heavy rains and mudslides resulted from the cloudburst, causing significant damage to the road. Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries have been reported.
Efforts are underway to clear the debris and restore the road at the earliest, with authorities deploying men and machinery for the task. Additionally, the Doda-Kishtwar stretch of the highway, which was earlier closed due to the cloudburst between Shiva Pull and Thathri Petrol Pump, has been restored for two-way traffic.
Meanwhile, torrential rains have continued in most parts of Doda and Kishtwar districts for the third consecutive day. The incessant rainfall has led to a rise in water levels in the Chenab river and its major tributaries, such as Neeru and Kalnai.
In light of the situation, the district administration in Doda has issued advisories to the public, urging them to remain cautious and stay away from streams, rivers, and other vulnerable areas.
