Jammu, October 2: A head constable from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) met a tragic and mysterious end on Sunday, succumbing to a gunshot wound inside Kot Bhalwal Jail, located in the Gharota area on the outskirts of the city.
The deceased jawan was identified as Rakesh Kumar, hailing from Mukundgarh in the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. Kumar had recently returned to his duty post after a period of leave. His lifeless body was discovered within the jail premises, bearing a fatal bullet injury.
The circumstances surrounding the incident have raised questions and intrigue. Reportedly, a gunshot was heard early in the morning, prompting security personnel to spring into action. Upon investigation, they found Head Constable Rakesh Kumar lying in a pool of blood at the main entrance of the high-security prison. His service rifle, an AK-47, was found nearby.
While preliminary inquiries suggest the possibility of suicide, a conclusive determination of the exact cause and circumstances of Kumar’s death will only be made after a thorough investigation is completed. The mysterious circumstances surrounding the incident have led to heightened interest and concern within the CRPF and law enforcement community.
