Dharamshala, Jul 8: The Dalai Lama, Tibetan spiritual leader, expressed his willingness to engage in talks with Beijing, emphasizing that he is not seeking Tibet’s independence from China. Prior to his departure for Delhi from the Kangra airport, he stated, “China is changing and has now realized that the Tibetan people are very strong, and in order to address the Tibetan issue, they want to have contact with me, and I am also ready.”
The Dalai Lama further affirmed his openness to discussions with China, stating that he had made it clear years ago that complete independence is not being sought, and that Tibet would remain a part of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). In response to a question, he reiterated his stance.
During his two-day stay in Delhi, following his recent birthday on July 6, the spiritual leader released a four-minute video message expressing his dedication to benefiting sentient beings to the best of his ability.
The Dalai Lama has previously emphasized his pursuit of autonomy for Tibet within the framework of the PRC, rather than seeking outright independence.
