JAMMU, September 12th – India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, is scheduled for a day-long visit to Jammu on Tuesday, during which he will remotely inaugurate 90 projects led by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and participate in the North Tech Symposium, as confirmed by an official source.
The infrastructure initiatives undertaken by the Border Roads Organisation encompass the construction of four airstrips and helipads situated along the northern and western borders, as detailed by a spokesperson from the defense sector.
Upon his arrival in Jammu in the morning, Minister Singh will proceed to Samba, where he will inaugurate the state-of-the-art 422.9-meter Devak Bridge, a vital component of the broader 90 infrastructure projects undertaken by BRO. These projects, collectively valued at Rs 2,941 crores, include the development of 21 roads, 64 bridges, one tunnel, two airstrips, and two helipads, aimed at enhancing the strategic capabilities of defense forces and fostering socio-economic growth in the region. Most of these projects will be inaugurated via virtual platforms, according to the spokesperson.
Subsequently, the Defense Minister will participate in the ongoing North Tech Symposium hosted at the Jagti campus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Jammu. The three-day symposium, inaugurated by Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. M V Suchindra Kumar on Monday, serves as a significant platform for advancing technological discussions and innovations in the defense sector.
