New Delhi, October 3 : Nepal experienced two earthquakes, measuring 4.6 and 6.2 in magnitude, occurring just 25 minutes apart, with powerful tremors also felt in Delhi-NCR and various parts of northern India, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology on Tuesday.
The first earthquake, measuring 4.6 in magnitude, struck Nepal at a depth of 10 kilometers at 2:25 pm, followed by a stronger earthquake, measuring 6.2, which shook the Himalayan nation at 2:51 pm.
In response to the second earthquake, residents in Delhi and the National Capital Region reported experiencing intense tremors, prompting them to evacuate their offices and high-rise buildings.
The Delhi Police issued an advisory urging people not to panic, stating, “We hope you all are safe. Please come out of your buildings to a safe spot, but do not panic. DO NOT USE ELEVATORS! For any emergency help, dial 112.”
Tremors were also felt in other northern Indian regions, including Chandigarh and Jaipur. Authorities in the Jaipur Police control room stated that there was no information regarding any losses at the moment.
