SRINAGAR, June 30: As per officials, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a decrease in minimum temperature on Friday along with intermittent light rain and thunderstorm forecasted for the next 24 hours.
During the last 24 hours until 8:30 am today, several regions of J&K experienced rainfall. Srinagar recorded traces of rain, while Pahalgam received 13.2 mm, Kupwara 0.6 mm, Gulmarg 0.4 mm, Batote 0.9 mm, Bhaderwah 1.4 mm, and Kathua 3.0 mm.
According to the meteorological department, Srinagar registered a low of 18.3°C, a drop from the previous night’s 20.3°C, which was 1.2°C higher than the summer capital’s normal temperature. Qazigund, the gateway town of the Kashmir Valley, recorded a low of 16.6°C, down from 17.5°C, which was 1.1°C above normal.
Pahalgam, a popular tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, witnessed a low of 11.2°C compared to the previous night’s 13.2°C, which was 0.4°C above normal. Kupwara settled at 15.7°C, down from 17.1°C, with a slight deviation of 0.2°C above normal for the north Kashmir region.
Other temperature recordings included Kokernag at 16.3°C (1.4°C above normal), Gulmarg at 11.0°C (0.1°C above normal), and Jammu at 27.1°C (1.5°C above normal), serving as the winter capital of J&K.
Additionally, Banihal registered a low of 17.6°C (1.5°C above normal), Batote at 17.7°C (0.2°C above normal), Katra at 23.5°C (1.5°C above normal), and Bhaderwah at 16.8°C (0.8°C above normal). Leh and Kargil in Ladakh recorded lows of 9.8°C and 13.4°C, respectively, the official added.
