Rajouri, May 30 : In a significant operation, law enforcement authorities apprehended Aziz Ahmed, also known as Sonu Chinese, a well-known drug peddler in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The arrest took place during a raid conducted at Ahmed’s residence in Rajouri town, with the presence of an executive magistrate from the district civil administration. Along with the arrest, the police confiscated 11 grams of heroin, Rs 1.16 lakh in cash, and an astonishing haul of 31 mobile phones.
Additionally, the raid yielded the discovery of two electronic weighing machines, three cameras, three motors, four amplifiers, one inverter, one stabilizer, and one speaker. While some of the recovered items are suspected to be stolen, further investigation will determine their exact nature and purpose.
Ahmed had gained notoriety for his involvement in narcotics peddling and enticing young individuals into addiction. A case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Rajouri Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritpal Singh (IPS), reiterated the authorities’ commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug peddlers, emphasizing that strict legal action will continue to be taken against them.
Singh further emphasized the importance of parental surveillance as a potent preventive measure to safeguard the youth and future generations from falling prey to drug addiction.
